Welcome! I am an M.A. student in the RSEA program at Harvard University. I study state-society relations in the context of authoritarianism. I am also interested in law and courts in China.

My first research agenda concentrates on how the Chinese state shapes/reshapes social relations to deepen its ability of social control. Under this topic, I pay attention to concepts like the United Front (tongyi zhanxian) and GONGO (government-organized non-governmental organization). My current work in progress talks about the emergence of pro-government we-media practitioners and the role of local government in this process.

The second research line explores the role of Chinese judicial system. My ongoing project employs quantitative methodology to examine the ad hoc response of Chinese judicial system to the COVID-19.
